Director of Catering and Event Sales

Responsible for overseeing the Banquet and Catering department with direct report to the Director of Sales. Our Director must have a proven track record of aggressive sales ability and has motivated previous sales teams to successful periods of ever increasing revenues. In addition, strong operational experience with an eye for detail to successfully lead the Resort's banquets and events while meeting budgeted financial performance and superior service levels.

Job Description:

  • Train, manage and direct the banquets staff to ensure event presentation and service levels are exceeded.
  • Coach and mentor Catering team on achieving goals, upselling, maximizing event space, and prospecting.
  • Director of Catering will be responsible for local Hilton Head market to include the solicitation, selling and closing of annual catering events, corporate day meetings, new customer base and shifting share of these meeting/events from comp set.  
  • Provides administrative leadership and structure through development of processes and procedures.
  • Prepares annual budget based on previous years data and projecting for year ahead.
  • Review monthly budgets to stay on tract and forecast accurately.
  • Analyze and review banquet profitability and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Work with F&B director and Chef on menus selections and pricing. DOS on marketing initiatives.
  • Participate in Local Social Activities and Organizations to include local chamber.

Required Experience:

  • Preference of 2-4 year degree in hotel and restaurant management.
  • Prefer candidates with experence working at 4 Diamond caliber independent resorts
  • Must have at least 3 years of banquet management experience with a high degree of emphasis on service levels
  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, proper preparation of foods and beverage items.
  • 3-5 years combined Catering and supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in selling/servicing weddings preferred.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing others.
  • A solid track record in achieving financial results
  • Excellent organization, planning, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
